Dishwasher is Not Drying Dishes If your dishes are coming out of your dishwasher wet after the heat dry cycle is complete, then there could be a problem with the heating element, high limit thermostat or even how the dishes are loaded.

Heating Element

Some dishwashers have a visible heating element located at the bottom of the tub which helps heat the air inside the dishwasher to evaporate water and dry the dishes. If your dishes are coming out cold and wet immediately after the heat-dry cycle, then there may be an issue with the heating element.

To do this, you will need to remove the dishwasher from under the counter in order to access the heating element terminals located under the dishwasher. This will also Continue reading

Why Do Plastic Items Never Dry In My Dishwasher?

Why Do Plastic Items Never Dry In My Dishwasher?

When you open your dishwasher to unload your newly cleaned dishes, why does it seem that plastic containers, plates and glasses are still wet? The answer has to do with heat absorption, evaporation, and the design of modern energy-efficient dishwashers.

Metal, glass and ceramic items absorb and hold more heat during the washing cycle and also hold in the heat for a longer period of time. The lingering heat also helps to Continue reading

The cure for white film on dishwasher-cleaned dishes and glasses

Lemi Shine Dishwasher Detergent Booster

Combined with your dishwasher detergent, Lemi Shine Booster removes spots, stains, and film during the main wash cycle.

Does your dishwasher leave a white film on your clean dishes? It might not be your dishwasher’s fault. In 2010, phosphates were removed from most commercial dishwasher cleaners. In areas with hard water, this left dishwasher-cleaned dishes and glasses with a white film on the cleaned dishes due to minerals in the water.

To get rid of this, try adding a dishwasher booster like Lemi Shine. Lemi Shine removes tough water spots from dishes and glassware. Just add it to your regular dishwasher cleaner or else run your dishwasher with it alone on cleaned dishes to remove white film and hard water spots.

If this does not solve your white film problem try Continue reading

Squeaky Clean Efficiency

An important part of your dishwasher’s efficiency is how well you take care of it. There are several ways to ensure it maintains it’s peak performance.

One of the main arguments about using dishwashers is whether or not to rinse off your dishes before putting them in.  I will always suggest rinsing off your dishes; this makes it easier for your dishwasher to clean dishes, and prevents clogging in the bottom of the tub from food debris left over from your meal.

Running your dishwasher through a cycle without anything in it will clean out it’s pipes.  I like to use a bit of vinegar in the wash tray to make sure everything is squeaky clean.  It may not smell too good, but it will do the job and lengthen the life of your appliance.

One of my main problems is always overloading the dishwasher.  I like to pack it all in to minimize the amount dishes I might have to do by hand.  This, however, never works out in my favor.  There’s almost always some sort of food residue left over on my plates and bowls. Making sure your dishes are loaded properly, and spaced out will ensure that your dishes will all get clean (and no residue). Image
