Maybe you moved into a new apartment or are downsizing your home and you need some extra space; stacking your washer and dryer might just be the answer. But before you get stacking, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Measure the space
Make sure you have enough room so that your newly stacked appliances fit into their new space. You also need to have some room in back for venting, cords and hoses. If you are placing your stacked appliances in a closet, make sure you have proper clearance and enough room to close the door and also open your appliance’s doors to insert and remove laundry.
Have compatible appliances
Check the manufacturer’s website to make sure it is safe to stack your appliances. If you know you will be stacking appliances right from the start, it’s best to buy a washer and dryer by the same manufacturer that are designed to be stacked together.
Use a stacking kit
A stacking kit helps secure your washer and dryer together safely and also tries to even out the weight distribution of the dryer on top of the washer.
Even if you purchase a new washer and dryer with the intent of stacking them, a kit might not be included. You can purchase washer and dryer stacking kits on EveryAppliancePart.com.
